Thanx Glenn. Here's even more info on DVIN:

I'm glancing thru their prospectus now. A few quick notes:
===
Like ICGE, portfolio focus is broken into two areas: Market-makers, infrastructure service providers

Some great companies like commerx (I think it holds plasticsnet). And especially sequoia software (8.7% stake), which I definitely anticipate will be one of DVIN's greatest successes. It's one of the few that isn't headquarted in illinois.

Conflict of interest section notes that some folks serve on each other's board of directors, including 2 major competitors:
Frontenac frontenac.com
gtcr goldner rauner (I found their website at gtcr.com

Non-compete agreements signed with Computer Associates, which bought Platinum Technology while Flip was CEO, which may preclude some investment opportunities.

An earlier incantation of DVIN, Platinum Venture Partners made over 40 investments between '92-99, including StarMedia.

A TON of the written material outlines the risks associated with the Investment Company Act of 1940, and how DVIN will be creamed if the gov't sticks that regulation to 'em.
People from Flycast, ICGE, and Ubid are on the board of directors.

Trademarked the term 'internet zaibatsu', the theme is the centerpiece of the company. The company did not commence operations under its current name until 6/30/99

Andrew "Flip" Filipowski has great success in the technology arena though other business ventures outside of that realm have met with less success [TICKERS PTET and RINO].

I noticed in Bluestone Software's (BLSW, I'm a shareholder) pre-IPO filing that Flip was on the board of directors (w/ 90,000 shares, wow).
