Zhone is seeking an exceptional engineer to work in our Fremont location. We are seeking someone with very strong real-time programming skills to design embedded applications and device drivers for telecommunication products. You will have a strong systems background, and the ability to implement algorithms involving multiple tasks such as alarm processing, performance monitoring and ATM service configuration.
Position requires a BSCS (or equivalent) and 5 or more years in embedded real-time development, strong C programming skills and real-time development, ideally VxWorks. Your prior experience designing ATM and/or voice systems is preferred.

Your work will integrate voice, video and data offerings, which supports the next generation of intelligent, carrier-class equipment. All of these positions require that you have worked on projects at the embedded application level; possess real-time programming skills in either VxWorks or PsoS; and have taken several products through the complete design cycle.
All of the design positions within Zhone require that you work on your own designs as well as the implementation of your designs. You should have an excellent understanding of several of the following protocols, and understand both the transport and session layers of the OSI model.
WANs: DS1, DS3, DSL, HFC, SONET/SDH, POS
Protocols: TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP4, ATM, Frame Relay, H.323, SS7, GR-303, SNMP, MPEG, DAVIC
Senior Embedded Software positions require a BSCS/MS and five (5) or more years of related experience. All positions require background in telecommunications or datacommunications, real-time and C programming skills. Prior start-up background with product release is ideal. |
