JC - Do you know if SUNW has a vested interest in this "secret" project?

Top secret processor project slated for unveiling
8.10 p.m. ET (0110 GMT) January 16, 2000
(http://www.foxmarketwire.com/wires/0116/f_ap_0116_31.sml)

Frm the article:"...For the past five years, Transmeta Corp. has secretly toiled away on the project under the leadership of CEO David Ditzel, a former chip designer for AT&T's Bell Labs and Sun Microsystems Inc...."

Apparently, their new RISC chip is designed for PDA's and "information appliances".

"I know some of the early systems are Linux," said Mike Feibus of Mercury Research in Scottsdale, Ariz. "If you're aiming for a low-power, low-cost system, then there's nothing better than a free OS. And who better to tailor that OS for specific applications than the inventor?"

I wonder if SUNW will join in as part of the companies that will support this new platform. IBM has a big investment in it too as does Paul Allen.
