What do expense deductions have to do with anything? Sure there are perks in the tax code for everybody - the largest of which is capital gains as both you and I are aware.

My point is that tons of money is going into this program which is a reverse robin hood transfer of wealth from the less well off to the wealthy. I use an average amount of something over 9K/year.

I have no idea why you defend this boondoggle since you are usually rational when it comes to fiscal matters - unlike others here. Just wait until your kids start working and you look at their take-home pay... for a 70K/year salary taxes take it down from 5850/mo to about 3400/mo - then on top of that they have to pay for things the elderly took for granted - dental coverage, dependent healthcare and schools - how can anybody support this?

BTW you cannot afford to purchase a home on $3400/mo in California. Home ownership is an elusive dream for almost everyone who works for me.
