Financial Shenanigans by Howard Schilit
A book filled with examples on detecting accounting trickery and shedding light on reading balance sheets. The lack of an actual financial statement from companies mentions is the knock on the book. The section on evaluating accounting policy for a company is well written. The lessons from Jiffy Lube, Home Shopping Network, and W.T. Grant were well done. I wish actual examples were present from their report instead of a summary. The 52 point "Techniques for Finding Shenanigans" is an excellent tool. The only trouble is that one semester of accounting at grad school, leaves me weak to catch all of the shenanigans.
