SpryGuy - Re: " .PWeeIII 733 repeated and incredibly expensive (in terms of both dollars and tarnished image)recalls over the past 3 months."

What recalls ? Intel had a minor glitch on early ones and issued a work around.

How many MOTHERBOARDS with AThWIPERs were recalled by FIC and AMD ?

How many Compaq customers are sitting home with new Christmas AthWIPERs that won't boot properly ?

Re: "PWeeIII 800 announcement without availability...a significant and negative departure from pre-Athlon marketing
tactics."

It's a NEW WORLD - and Intel is playing by new rules - the same one's AMD plays by. And, there are plenty of 800 MHz HP 9690 PCs for sale here in Silicon Valley - at Fry's !

Re: "Paul, do you really believe that on Dec.31, 2000, the percentage gain in Outel's shares (currently $103)from today's price will be greater than the percentage gain in AMD's shares (currently $40)? I don't!"

Percentage wise ? That's a tough call.

AMD has often done well over short periods of time.

And, any profit from AMD represents an INFINITE IMPROVEMENT in "profits" - whereas poor old Intel is saddled with a string of $2,000,000,000 +/- quarterly PROFITS over the past several years.

It IS difficult for Intel to DOUBLE its profits - that is why Intel is expanding into new areas - areas that AMD is EXITING or has no thoughts of going !

Re: "Outel may be doing very well outside the microprocessor marketplace (not really an interest of mine), but clearly, in a relative sense, their dominant positon in the midroprocessor market is currently under siege by the "spry Athy". "

Are you referring to AMD's massive success in the workstation a d Server markets ?

One company - Pie-inthesky-onex announces a souped up PC as a server and you announce a major DEFEAT for Intel !

Better do some homework, SpryGuy - AMD's 48 WATTS of power dissipation - with JACKED UP VOLTAGES - is going to keep most Server and Workstation from even considering AthWIPERs in their systems !
