Paul, Re HP designing chipsets for IA-64,

My guess is that HP is busy doing the same thing as Hitachi - working on their own 32 or 64-way SMP chip sets for IA64.

I wonder about all these different IA-64 chipsets...Hitachi, HP, IBM (I think I saw), Intel, etc. Makes one wonder about compatibility, data integrity, cost. Lots of issues. Still, infinitely better than having no-one designing around your new processor, like maybe with that other company on the other side of Lawrence Expressway.
