*Long term, or short, how can GBLX be more attractive than JDSU, QCOM, or others in your recent "Power" report.*
QCOM and JDSU (or GBLX for that matter) were not included in my "summary" of power related investment opportunities (I don't recall shipping a copy to you) because it focuses on companies involved in power generation and management technologies capable of efficiently managing (switching or mediation) or generating kilowatts, and even megawatts, at very high levels of reliability. This industry (no, its not utilities either . . .) is positioned on a similar trajectory to that of telecommunications and the microelectronics industry before.
By the way my telecom “summary” of twenty months ago did include the following (prices of purchase are split adjusted):
PCS $14.375 JDSU $12 QCOM $8 VARL $7.50
I recently added GBLX (spring of 99) and GSTRF (fall 99) to fill-out network exposure (I have a whole theme devoted on this area).
I endeavor to invest in areas that have tremendous potential, are relatively cheap (in one way or another), and have a good set of catalysts to heard the crowd in.
In other words, I address companies that are well ahead of the heard, not those that are in vogue. Also, you will notice that I build my themes on the shoulders of others – so don't shoot at me for that either – in an effort to have a jump of the catalyst list. As many of you know, you can learn more about my ideas by reading the likes of Rogers, Soros, Vick and various other great authors. Enough said. |
