Are you insinuating that was the first time she ever tithed in her life? Although many preachers use Malachi as a vise to wring money from the people I see very few prosperous churches. The people who contribute most are those who have the least, that is the rule and not the exception, or so that is what I've witnessed all my life. Should anyone brag about giving a whole 10% I would suggest they read the entire Old Testament about giving. The Israelites gave at least 20% not 10% of everything they made to the worship of God. Go ahead count up all the different offerings, how much, what time of the year, and all the special occasions. On the other hand they didn't pay income taxes like most people do nowadays. God loves a cheerful giver but those who are content to just give 10% are not doing any service to God, they are barely succeeding to keep the curse at bay. Those who have walked with God for a while learn that 10% given to God is nothing more than chump change. Jesus wasn't impressed with anyone but that dear old widow who gave it all. Chris
