Brian, I don't want to say anything that would anger you and you know that. The same goes for anyone else who is civil.
The most important thing that I would have you consider is the fact that the Old Testament is for our edification but..... We were far and away and were considered as dogs when the Old testament was given to God's chosen people, The Israelites and the Judeans.
It is not to us. It was for the Jewish people. Don't misunderstand, we can still profit from reading it.
Now on to the New Testament. It was still not for us. We are still called dogs until....... The Mystery of Grace. Saul of Taursus is struck by God and blinded. he was the worst, the chief sinner against Jesus and the Christians. God changes his name to Paul and gives him the new covenant and guess what? We are to be included in God's plan of Salvation! Now, this is the meat and bread for the Gentile and the Jew. A new covenant. We do not serve in in the oldness of the letter. We are free from debt to the law.The Commandment, which was to bring life, brought death.
The law and the prophets can be wrapped up in this. Love Brian. Don't serve the law but love. Love God. Love your neighbor. Serve God the way that the Holy Spirit directs you.
Please don't be putting the Old Testament laws on me. I am not a Jew. I am a Christian and what I do is under grace and freedom.Maybe you think it is not profitable for you but thank God it is profitable for me. While you are looking for gold in the sky I am thankful for a deliverance that was nothing short of one of God's miracles. If God wants to make my pocket heavier, that is fine. I do not however tithe for goodies. My service is based on giving of myself.

Goodnight

James
