Office Depot had a sale just before Christmas. They lowered the price of a bunch of 5400 HD's. I picked up two for $59.88 each with a $30 rebate (only one per household) so $15 off of each or $45 each drive. I picked up a CDR/RW for $50 a week earlier (when I bought all the LS-120's).

I get almost all my deals from anandtech.com 's hot deal section of their forums. dvdtalk.com also has a forum with good deals. Here's a direct link to the forum:

I picked up two Palm V's for $225 each through a deal I learned of on Anand's. I sold one to a friend at cost and I'll sell the other on ebay for $300. That'll pay for most of my two HD's.

All in all, the best deals are from the office supply stores. Office Depot and Office Max price match each other plus 55% (155% price match). When one is offering a good sale, the price at the other one gets real low (for example, Cross paid me $50 to buy a Cross Pad). I bought the processors off of Buycomp.com. They're terrible if they don't have an itme in stock, but their free shipping weekends and their $ off coupons made my Celeron's dirt cheap.

I lucked out on the $59 8 port Intel switch from onvia.com (great follow through by them), and Mushin's cheap PC100 ram is fine if you're not overclocking.

ps - I'm part Scottish, but I've always liked getting a good deal and my family are real muts (eastern European and various British isles) so it wasn't the social environment. I don't have any problem spending money, I just like to save money when I do spend it. It lets me stay in toys and keep to my budget.
