Something interesting found via spam:

paypal.com

Yet the ability to "beam" money from one device to another, or to anyone with an e-mail address, may well be the clincher. It is a simple and useful application that is particularly well suited to a pocket-sized device. Moreover, the technology is already in place. This week, Confinity, a Silicon Valley start-up, launched its PayPal service , which enables the transfer of money by e-mail. Next month, the company will introduce a version for use on the PalmPilot. Cell phone and pager applications will follow next year.

PayPal transfers funds from the payer's credit or bank account to the recipient. If the recipient is not registered with PayPal, he or she has to supply an account number to receive the money. This guarantees that PayPal use will spread through "viral marketing", since few people would refuse receipt of a payment. It is not designed to displace credit cards, or electronic bill payment services, but rather to extend the use of electronic funds transfers to person-to-person payments, small cash payments or long-distance payments.

Um, unless they say screw you. Just send me a check.
