Roger, I did basically the same thing for my grandchildren this last Christmas -- I gave them each a share of my QCOM, which I consider to be a 'long term holding', and told them to watch it in the newspaper each day -- that they had to hold it at least one year, and after that they could call me at any time to cash it in. I plan to do the same thing each Christmas -- except I will give them shares of different 'long term holding' stocks -- thus, hopefully, each of them building a portfolio. I'm sure they will make some mistakes along the way, by selling some shares -- but, that's how they will learn that 'buying and holding for the long term' is the way to go (imo). I really admire what you have done for your son -- a wonderful example for others. Wishing you well, dc
