This is a great contract for FVCX, but I would like to know the amount of the contract and how long it lasts.

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Jan. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- FVC.COM (Nasdaq: FVCX - news), the world leader in broadband video networking, today announced a partnership with Adaptive Broadband(TM) Corporation (Nasdaq: ADAP - news), a leading provider of fixed wireless broadband infrastructure networking systems. Adaptive Broadband will include the FVC.COM Access Switch in its AB-Access(TM) product offering to telecommunications providers throughout North America. The FVC.COM Access Switch provides network connectivity between the local loop and carrier backbone for converged voice, video and data applications in conjunction with Adaptive Broadband's AB-Access fixed wireless high-speed networking product.
``It's clear that the growth of the Internet will be driven by e-commerce, but not limited to just the text and transaction data we know today,' said Christine Perey, principal of PEREY Research & Consulting. ``E-commerce will be enhanced by voice and video capabilities that require generous amounts of bandwidth. By enabling high-speed two-way Internet access, companies like Adaptive Broadband and FVC.COM will be the Internet infrastructure enablers for this next generation of business-to-business applications.'
AB-Access offers data transmission at rates up to 25 Mbps, a speed over 400 times faster than dial-up service with a 56K modem. At this bandwidth, users can download full-streaming video and data files, use real-time video conferencing and surf the World Wide Web -- all at the same time over a single, portable connection. FVC.COM's Access Switch connects remote users from the local loop, also known as the ``last mile,' to the carrier's network. Service providers in Florida and Texas are currently introducing commercial applications for data transport on the unlicensed U-NII band now available for two-way transmission.
``There is a huge demand from the telecommunications industry for value-added broadband wireless applications such as converged voice, video and data,' said Dr. Daniel L. Scharre, chief technology officer of Adaptive Broadband Corporation. ``We believe the global wireless broadband access market will be valued at $100 billion over the next decade, and converged access capabilities -- such as those offered by FVC.COM -- will play a key role in helping us seize market share in that arena.'
``This agreement significantly widens FVC.COM's reach in the broadband Internet service provider market,' said Rich Beyer, president and chief executive officer of FVC.COM. ``By combining Adaptive Broadband's leading wireless solutions with FVC.COM's carrier-class Access Switch, we are enabling service providers to deliver high-speed voice, video and data anytime, anywhere.'
According to Adaptive Broadband, over the coming five years up to 20 million homes and businesses across the United States will subscribe to high-speed data services, defined as 125 kilobits per second and faster, with the initial wave of this demand being driven by small to medium-sized businesses and telecommuters. While that's a percentage of all potential users, it is indicative of the strong demand for high-speed Internet access. Within this market, wireless broadband alternatives and converged multimedia applications are very attractive.
