Martin, I'm not sure about this, but my gut is that management was surprised by, and is not happy with, the direction in which AOL moved post merger announcement. Now, the announcement was made sufficiently in advance of earnings to evaluate the street reaction to the news. To the extent that earnings can be "massaged" at this point (perhaps JDN can offer better insight into this, given his impressive accounting background), I would think that AOL will do whatever it has to do to release impressive earnings in view of the mixed reception to the merger news and the poor performance of the stock.

Thus, I look for AOL to significantly beat street estimates. JMHO.
