It's kind of like putting new clothes on without taking a shower.

In my experience, when companies "go for it" in terms of IT upgrades, they tend to try to buy as much as they feel they can get away with, while risking upper management kicking the purchase requisition back. This is because they don't know when the next time might be that they'll be able to buy. So, they generally overdo it. Also, they probably have tacit approval for something as major as an OS upgrade, already.

Put simply, hardware will be upgraded with the software. Count on it.
