Hi, all:
I've been an SI poster for several years, but never on this thread. I've read:
The Intelligent Investor, Graham Technical Analysis, Pring Against the Gods, the remarkable story of risk, Bernstein One up on Wall Street, Lynch The Warren Buffet Way, Hagstrom The Art of War, Sun-Tsu Where the wild things are, Sendak (many times)
Just bought Gorilla Game and Buffettology. When I've read them, I'll have more to say.
My story is similar to many here. After finishing our training, my wife and I worked for 6 years in northwest Alaska, earning low-6-figure incomes and living a middle-class lifestyle. 60% of our income went into the stock market, and by last year I made 6 times more in the market than our combined salaries. Since Uncle Sam is giving us such a huge financial incentive to make money in stocks rather than by getting up at 3 am to deliver babies (20% vs. 40% marginal tax rate), and since my wife is a workaholic (recently cut back to 60 hours, which she describes as a "relaxed, easy schedule"), I quit work recently. We have 4 kids, 8 fruit trees, and no diamonds.
2 questions:
Can a gorilla's industry be in an information technology based on genes and carbon (as opposed to semiconductors and silicon?) It's all data, right?
Are non-U.S. companies considered? |
