Dan B.
Thanks for your thoughtful response. It appears that you have approached this issue much as I have -- with a bit of healthy skeptism as to the merits or shortcomings of S-CDMA technology over HFC plant.
I, too, have read that S-CDMA has no advantage over HFC. But, IMHO, if this is truly the case, I don't think TERN would be trading where it is today. So, like you, I await a more definitive response to this issue.
Meanwhile, unlike you, I hold CMTO, & to say the least, have been extremely disappointed at its performance to date. I am sure the company's technology is good, but that alone does not make a successful investment. Management needs not only to focus on technical performance of its products, but also marketing & strategic positioning of its products in the competitive marketplace.
I got the impression when Fenner was on CNBC last month following 1.0 Certification that marketing & strategic positioning might not be his forte; I dunno. But he or someone else needs to get the profitability of this company turned around in short order & position the company's products as offering superior performance at the 1.1 Certifcation level, if in-fact true. The "growth" characteristic of this industry is not going to last forever. There are too many factors that weigh against a "wait & see" attitude.
IMHO, with Certification 1.0 finally under their belts, it is now time for management to prove itself beyond the testing laboratory. A new contract with large MSO is in order. The competition is not standing still, not only with respect to other cable-modem manufacturers, but also the set-top box manufacturers & producers of DSL equipment. Now is time for CMTO to put its asserted superior modem technology to the "road" test.
