P,

I expect Pairgain to miss 4Q99 earnings and warn the street. I've owned the stock for over a year now and their Avidia is almost here.

1) Didn't see a Conexant Dec-99 announcement for mass production of their Falcon chip. Thus, Pairgain can't provide mass production of their ADSL line cards for Avidia.

2) Promatory had to merge with Nortel. This is going to add additional pressure on Pairgain. Nortel has some nice contacts into Sprint.

3) @link is using Pairgain because of Avidia, but also for that vendor financing. @link announced contracts with Promatory and Pairgain.

4) My reasons for selling Westell still hold. They failed with ADSL in the CO and DLC. They are only selling the remote ADSL units and must compete with the likes of 3COM.

5) Pairgain Avidia must compete against Nokia/Diamond, Nortel/Promatory and Lucent in the advanced DSLAM market.
