NEWS, NOTES AND COMMENTS

Issue No. 1 January 2000

Happy New Year and welcome to Diamond Fields' first News, Notes and Comments
Newsletter. The purpose of this newsletter is to keep you informed of upcoming
news and/or events that will be happening in the world of Diamond Fields and to
summarize past news and events. We plan to "publish" our newsletter once every
two to three months, however this schedule is somewhat dependent on news flow.

First of all, I would like to introduce myself, Don Halliday, the most recent
addition to the Diamond Fields team. I will be working with the Company in
coordinating an investor relations program for the year 2000, an important and
exciting year for Diamond Fields and its shareholders. The program will cover all
areas of investor relations. I look forward to speaking with our shareholders in
the near future and can be reached at the main Diamond Fields office number:
(604) 682-2113 or at (604) 608-0826. Please feel free to call.

NEWS RELEASES:

Look for news releases on the following: DFI will receive a new resource estimate
for the Marshall Fork feature, DFI's most advanced sea diamond project near
Luderitz, Namibia. This resource estimate is being prepared by MRDI of San Mateo,
California.

In addition to the resource estimate, DFI expects to receive, from Agra-Simons of
Vancouver, B.C., the scoping study for an initial mining operation at Marshall
Fork.

The Company anticipates results of the Phase 3 sampling program at the Boat Bay
feature. To date, each of the 300 X 400 meter sub-areas sampled in Boat Bay has
diamond mineralisation indicated in the perched gravel horizons.

ON THE CALENDAR:

Feb. 8 - 10: Cape Town conference in South Africa.

Mar. 5 - 8: Look for the Diamond Fields booth, #2116, at the PDA mining
convention in Toronto.
