SNC-Lavalin Obtains Contract in Corridor Pipeline Project
JANUARY 18, 2000 MONTREAL, QUEBEC--SNC-Lavalin has obtained a contract from Corridor Pipeline of Alberta to provide engineering, procurement and construction management services for the pump stations and related facilities in the Corridor Pipeline Project. The project value of the SNC-Lavalin portion is $100 million.
The Corridor Pipeline Project will link two key components of the Athabasca Oil Sands Project being developed jointly by Shell, Chevron and Western Oil Sands. The pipeline system will connect the Muskeg River mine, north of Fort McMurray, with the upgrader, to be constructed adjacent to Shell's Scotford refinery, near Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta.
The services SNC-Lavalin will provide are for the seven pumping, metering and storage facilities which will be distributed along the pipeline system. Work will commence immediately and is expected to be completed in 2003.
The 450-km dual pipeline system will transport diluent north to the mine and diluted bitumen south to the upgrader. It will also include a 43-km delivery system that will transport supplemental feedstocks to the upgrader and synthetic products from the upgrader to the pipeline terminals at Edmonton.
