Intel Israel exports nearly double in 1999
TEL AVIV, Jan 19 (Reuters) - Intel Corp said on Wednesday that exports from its Israeli operations jumped 92 percent in 1999 to $810 million from $422 million in 1998.

Intel Israel CEO Dov Fruhman estimated exports would surpass $1 billion in 2000, above earlier forecasts for the year.

Exports from its plants in Jerusalem and Kiryat Gat rose to $583 million in 1999 from $256 million in 1998. Exports from Intel's development centres in Haifa and Jerusalem in 1999 increased to $227 million from $166 million in 1998.

Fruhman attributed much of the growth in 1999 to higher-than-expected output at its new Kiryat Gat plant, which produces the 0.18 micron technology microprocessor series.

Fruhman said the company continued to reinvest profits from its Israeli activities in Israel.
