Global TeleMedia International, Inc. Signs International Carrier Contract BentleyTel.com Signs WorldxChange Communications to Initiate Worldwide Connections for Its 26 Walk-in Calling Stations NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--January 19, 2000-- Global TeleMedia International, Inc. (OTC: BB: GTMI) announced today the signing of a 0+ carrier contract with San Diego-based international carrier WorldxChange Communications (www.worldxchange.com), to enable GTMI's Philippine subsidiary, BentleyTel.com, to make collect calls to the USA and worldwide.
The international carrier contract will result in BentleyTel.com's ability to generate collect calls from The Philippines at $32 for the first 5 minutes and $4 per minute thereafter and could result in additional gross revenues of $3.5 million in the first year.
The Philippines has over 7,000 islands and many have local calls only and no fiber connection to connect them internationally. BentleyTel.com (Philippines), which currently has 26 long distance calling stations in The Philippines, plans to deploy up to 100 air-conditioned walk-in prefabricated telecom stations. These air-conditioned stations, with 6 or 12 telephone cubicles each, are deployed in towns of 25,000 - 250,000 population where there is minimal or no long distance calling facilities.
BentleyTel.com stations are mostly on satellite links and are focused on the largest southern island of Mindanao and surrounding islands with a combined population around 20 million, where BentleyTel.com enjoys an almost exclusive mobile rural international service.
Statistics show that The Philippines generates 295 million minutes per year with USA alone receiving 90 million minutes. Philippine major carriers reportedly generate $100 million per year in collect calls which terminate in the USA with an average length of call being 6 minutes. BentleyTel.com expects to capture at least 10-20% of this traffic.
With 26 stations active and more coming on-line BentleyTel.com (Philippines), which has enjoyed 100% growth per year over the last three years, based on local long distance alone, expects dramatic growth this year from world-wide international calling capability. With little or no competition in most areas BentleyTel.com, which collects cash for every direct dial call, will also sell the BentleyTel.com pre-paid phone cards, enabling inter-island and overseas business-to-business connections for many local merchants.
Global TeleMedia International, Inc. has 2 subsidiary companies, Bentley House Furniture Company, Inc. (BHFC) which currently operates as a wholly owned subsidiary of Global TeleMedia and majority owned (55%) BentleyTel.Com Inc. a Nevada corp. which owns 100% of BentleyTel.com Australia, BentleyTel.com Philippines and BentleyTel.com Malaysia.
