Winning the Casino Wars

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 19, 2000--In a recent radio interview with CEO Live.com, Harrah's Entertainment Inc. (NYSE:HET) President Gary Loveman discussed the company's strategy to stay ahead of the game and win the casino wars.

"From our land-based properties in Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Tahoe and Reno, to our Riverboat and Indian gaming properties, our goal is to provide a high-end adult gaming and leisure experience targeted toward adults who spend," said Loveman.

"We're happy to let our competitors build extravagant, high-priced family-oriented theme resorts. While they're bleeding red ink, our properties are performing astronomically well."

During the interview, Loveman also discussed the future of gaming, as well as Harrah's commitment to embrace Indian gaming partners.

"Many people in the gaming industry view Native American gaming as a threat," said Loveman. "We view it as an opportunity to grow, and to reach more adults with the unique Harrah's experience."

Loveman also talked about such competitors as NYSE:MIR, NYSE:STN, NYSE:MBG, NYSE:MGG and NYSE:PPE.
