Virage's Award-winning Products Will Provide Critical

Video Search Capabilities to Informix's Media360 Media Asset

Management System

Informix(R) Corporation (NASDAQ:IFMX), the technology leader in enterprise database-powered solutions, today announced that it will resell and distribute the video indexing products of Virage, Inc., a leading provider of interactive video search products and services, to a growing number of customers in broadcast and other media intensive markets worldwide. Virage VideoLogger(TM) and AudioLogger(TM) comprise the critical video cataloging components at the front end of Informix's Media360(TM) media asset management system.

With this agreement, Informix will now be able to offer a "one-stop shopping" option to their media asset management customers who have video cataloging and search requirements. According to Pamela Vitale, director of Market Development for the Informix Media Business Unit, "Virage is widely recognized as having the best-of-breed products in their class, and we are delighted to offer their products to our Informix Media360 customers." The terms of the agreement allow Informix to resell both Virage products and services worldwide effective immediately.

Media360 provides a comprehensive solution for loading, digitizing, indexing, editing, storing, retrieving, browsing, playing, protecting, distributing and archiving all types of media assets. The system is tightly integrated with an object-relational database, as well as leading content creation tools, Web publishing and e-commerce and analytical solutions. Media360 sets no limits on database size, numbers of users or the type and complexity of media assets, and its extensible architecture allows users to create new data types.

"Media360 was developed from Informix's hands-on experience with over 250 organizations using our media asset management technology," said Carolyn Layne, vice president of the Media Business Group for Informix. "This experience has enabled us to design a comprehensive solution from the ground up to meet the requirements of any organization that manages media assets enterprise wide. Virage's open architecture allows us to integrate the Media360 system seamlessly into any server or news environment. Through our partnership with Virage, we can create best-of-class video solutions based on each customer's needs."

This agreement builds on the success of previous Informix/Virage projects, developed for customers such as CNN, the BBC, Telecinco, Swiss Radio-TV and the Associated Press.

The Informix/Virage solution enables producers and other video content decision-makers to easily share video assets in real time, resulting in decreased time to air, improved news and content quality and streamlined production and workflow.
