Brian, your post, somewhat, helped me on the tithing issue. I believe in helping my local church but feel that I must be wary of where the money goes. So many of the churches of the day use the offerings of their congregations to erect buildings that are far more ostentatious than they need to be, and some of the pastors are driving a Mercedes, or the equivalent, and traveling about in their private jets. This concerns me about those particular churches.
If I am not mistaken, Jesus said that the First Commandment was the greatest, and that, to love your neighbor as you would want him to love you, is the second most important thing to do. Any Christian, worth his salt, would agree that love is the basis of all that is important to mankind. Case in point; if one loves God, he will not break any of the Commandments. ~;=;o --haqi |
