this time the boy who cried wolf once too often is getting spanked. (Of course, I
mean Microsoft going with the cautious forward looking words). IBM is saying 2000
can be good, that's all, and they're up after hours, even with relatively weak
revenues last quarter. And, all they want
out of them is double digit revenue growth for 2000. Of course, that is a lot in gross
$$. <<

Tony, This is exactly the argument I feel is true. IBM in after hours is up over 5 points. AMD and Apple blows expectations away. Microsoft should know better than to play the game the way they did.
I wrote an e-mail to Microsoft complaining about the stupidity of making that statement after the earning were released. They don't need anymore negative spin as they have enough crap with the DOJ and Judge Penfield.

cautious remarks

(Updates stock price, writes through)

SEATTLE, Jan 19 (Reuters) - Microsoft Corp.'s (NasdaqNM:MSFT - news) stock fell about 7
percent on Wednesday as worries about slowing demand for personal computers overcame a
positive earnings report that beat Wall Street estimates.

Shares in the Redmond, Wash.-based software giant fell 8-5/16 to 107 on the Nasdaq, more
than giving up all its gains from Tuesday, when it rose about $5 a share.<<
