In the above post you talk about the huge amount of software being developed for Linux on IA64. However Linux has not yet found acceptance for typical desktops. Linux too is confined to the workstation and server space.

So unless enough application software is being written by Microsoft on 64 bit Windows, I do not see your vision materializing in two years.

I can definitely see IA/64 dominating workstations in two years. I am not sure about office applications that soon, unless a compelling mass application which needs 64 bits shows up soon.

I do like your optimistic vision, and hope that 64 bits unleashes wonderful mass applications which will change the world.
