From what I can gather trough the white paper by Geoworks and what PHCM actually does is that PHCM main software business relates to interoperability (making devices share info.) of it software, which wap members can use . GWRX's language, WMl, is the universal language used to create any software which has to do with the operation of mobile devices, which are created, used, sold, etc by WAP members. In fact, I would not exclude PHCM as a Geoworks' licencee.
Here is a prospectus section of PHCM business.

The UP.Link Server Suite includes (1) a means of exchanging data between the Internet and mass-market wireless telephones, commonly referred to as a gateway; (2) a service platform that performs subscriber management and service provisioning functions and communicates with the network operator's customer care and billing systems; and (3) Internet-based wireless applications such as email and personal information management software. As of May 1999, 24 network operators have licensed our software and have commenced or announced commercial service or are in market or laboratory trials..."
Geoworks has the rights to collect from any one using is lingua franca. It can collect from those using it before July 1, 2000 and after at different price categories. This looks big to me. Very similar to QCOM. |
