Hewlet Packard and Intergraph have chosen not to use Rambus and the Intel 840 in their latest technical workstations.

Hewlet Packard introduced their X series featuring PC133 Dram coupled with a 128bit bus and eight Dimm slots. Intergraph has a similar features in their new ZX10 series. Both claim to offer better performace than Rambus and the 840 using lower cost SDRAM.

Anyone have have any idea which chipset they are using? I was really surprised to find out that both these companies threw out Rambus on their high end workstation line. Seems an odd choice since HP supports the 820 in their desktop line.

Anyone with some insight on this? I thought adoption of the 840 would have been a given at the price points these machines sell.
