Why the distinction? Canada, USA, whats the dif?

Big difference as far as i am concerned. As a US company it is eligible for entry into the S and P 500 and we could see a big pop in the stock (not that we really need any help).
Maybe those S and P folks are just as sharp as the Brits who called it a Canadian company. <g>
That would explain everything.

Actually, a lot of "sharp" business reporters in Canada also consider it Canadian.

BTW--there are some Canadian companies in the index (i believ it is about 7 or so)but these have been grandfathered in--like a Nortel.

I consider JDS as a North American company but for the reason above, i am glad it is technically considered American.
