Petz, There should be some concern about the recent FTC action by Intel against VIA. With an FTC( WEEKS NOT YEARS) ruling Intel can ask US Customs to act as a gatekeeper and halt the VIA products at the border until the 2-3 year lawsuit is settled. That will abruptly cut off all those new 133 mobos leaving GTW and all the others stalled at PC100 plus whatever chipsets emerge from AMD.
Of course if VIA is smart they will get a USA foundry in the USA or some US possession to make the chipsets. Stamp them "made in USA" and send them to Taiwan to plant on the mobos. When they return they cannot be halted as they are made in the USA. Better yet the larger mobo makers could set up mobo plants in a US possession like Puerto Rica, or? and make them there.
I suspect it will be a big pain in the butt for AMD and all the mobo makers within 30 days(FTC acts fast) and at that time AMD SP will take a big hit unless they have a plan in place to anticipate this?
AMD will then have enough cheap suplus mobos to take over the rest of the world as the unimportable VIA-133 mobos will then fill up europe etc as the lawsuit stuff over there will still take the 2-3 years or more. So Intel will not get a total win. AMD might make the chipsets in FAB25?
