Elmer & Thread, Re: Server Farms and Upside Article

First, thanks to the poster of the Upside Article, a good read.

Now, my thoughts regarding Intel's commitment to server farms. Intel may realize that there is some perception of Sun as the way to go and some resistance to using Intel for mission critical enterprise solutions.

It's my understanding Intel is offering it's customers a choice of hardware and software. Intel should be in a good position to suggest and assist customers in making the transition from Sun to Intel. The server farms are a way of getting customers who they can migrate to their own platform.

Does anyone know what percentage of customers use Intel and Sun platforms in Intel's server farm at Santa Clara?

Am I way off base or just operating with bad info? I'd appreciate anyone pointing out the holes in my theory ;)

TIA, dmf
