IONA and Portal Software Announce Strategic Worldwide Alliance
Portal Software selects IONA's iPortal Suite, an industry-leading eBusiness infrastructure solution, for its comprehensive family of customer management and billing software
WALTHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 19, 2000-- IONA Technologies (NASDAQ:IONA - news), the leading provider of solutions designed to create and deploy e-business applications, and Portal Software Inc. (NASDAQ:PRSF - news), a leading provider of business infrastructure software for Internet and next-generation communications services, today announced a strategic alliance. Under the alliance, Portal will use IONA's leading e-business infrastructure technology to power its Infranet© family of software products, a real-time, flexible solution for the management of Internet and emerging next-generation communication services.
IONA and Portal will cooperate on a range of technology initiatives that will provide customers with improved performance and ease of implementation. Customers will derive a variety of benefits resulting from the alliance, such as the ability to obtain even greater performance, scalability and availability when using Portal's Infranet software. Financial terms of the agreement are not disclosed.
