My two cents worth - which I received a reply already. (Wish my broker worked that fast!)
SI Webmistress:
I would like to review the SI contacts you made in determining Mr. Winn's suspension. (Not persons involved in the dispute)
>From your 'Rules' : The following actions, among others, may result in removal of messages and/or termination of your membership.
a) Using the Service for illegal purposes or for the transmission of material that is unlawful, harassing, libelous, invasive of another's privacy, abusive, threatening, harmful, vulgar, obscene, tortuous or otherwise objectionable.
As a somewhat long time SI member (4/1998) I have read every post on various threads Mr. Winn posts to including the Globalstar, Loral and Qualcomm threads. In my experience he has maintained a very high degree of civility. His humor is not readily apparent to some members and the spirit in which he presents his points for discussion take time to appreciate.
Having said that, I found the posts of XXXX, XXXX and xxxx [ed: names changed to protect my a**] to be more consistently lacking in taste and more frequently violating the spirit if not the actual letter of the rule referenced above.
I would suggest a review of the current suspension of Mr. Winn.
The last thing an open forum such as SI needs is rash judgments and the inflexibility to admit an overreaction.
Sincerely,
