Good afternoon Harry!

I spent last night listening to the Ask Jeeves conference call.

Message 12618480

Their last quarter was impressive, and from the tone of the call, I feel that the management of the company sure seems to know where they are taking this company. What stood out for me was a statement that was made when they responded to a question put to them by an analyst. Here is a loose transcription of their response to that question.

Are there any new competitors looming on the Horizon?

"In our corporate arena, we continue to have a very unique service and especially with integration of Net Effect capability it really remains one of a very few companies that provide kind of an integrated solution for helping companies on line who convert customers to long term customers".

Ask Jeeves's primary corporate market is the high end Fortune 1000 companies, and Answers.com will be targeting the Middle to Small business market.

As Ask Jeeves does not have the same ability to scale their technology that NSI has, then NSI believes that given their infrastructure, Ask Jeeves would find themselves at a disadvantage should they try to move into the Middle Market. In my opinion, I believe that the target market for Answers.com is exponentially larger than the one that Ask Jeeves is addressing. As a result, I also feel that the upside potential for Answers.com is huge! After all, if the model is working so well for Ask Jeeves in the large market, can you imagine just how popular it will be for the smaller to medium sized companies that do not have the infrastructure that the large firms have to support strong on-line service offerings. In my humble opinion, if they play their cards right, Answers.com could own the franchise in this market.
