The title was 'Consultancy puts year 2000 methodology on CD-ROM'. Basically the article was favorable. In summary and I paraphrase, 'Ardes2K contains hundreds of indexed entries designed to help an organization finish millennium work by the middle of 1999 assuming work starts now'. 'This product has the potential to save someone a
lot of time in analysis of the problem and how to assess ways to deal with it' said Y2k project manager who did not want to be named. It is not a fix but is designed for attacking problem at 90000 ft. The manager said they intend to use Ardes2K to insure they don't have any gaps and help decide 'Did we overlook something as we put it all together'. The article goes on to say that Arkes 2K is similar to the year 2000 portion of the The Systems Redevelopment Methodology' (TSRM) from HCL James Martin. That product costs $12,6000 for 5 seats vs $15,000 for Ardes2K. Someone from TSRM goes on to downplay Ardes2K - to be expected I guess. "But there is room in the market for a product such as Ardes2K according to Bruce Hall, research director at Gartner. There are a lot of people sill groping for a good method to address Y2K and this type of product casues you to be more efficient, etc.
Peter de Jager, who was hired by DDI as a speaker calls Ardes2K a conference in a can.
One thing the article did say is that time is short for a product like Ardes2K since the millennium is approaching and we need to be past the design and into the coding/testing.
