Yes, that is right.

Yes, that is right as well.

There is really no need to excercise them now unless you plan to sell "covered calls" on the stock at some point (ex after a 100 point gain) in the near future. Otherwise, holding the option until March is not that different from excercising. Only slight differences--nothing major.

Sorry, i may have been confusing you with the tax implications of selling covered calls and then buying them back (for a gain or loss) while keep your shares which would have a big unrealized gain. Actually, i don't do much covered selling---as this strategy has never worked for me.
