t2, The only part of your post I am not sure about is how ETEK's stock would respond to the deal falling apart. If your logic "Holding ETEK will be dependent upon how well the stocks of other component manufacturers are doing such as SDLI----that is, if the whole sector moves the way JDSU/GLW/ORTL/SDLI have been going were true that the price of ETEK would stay in line with SDLI" were true, ETEK's stock would have been trading closer to its current price and we would not have seen such as large gain in ETEK's stock price when the deal was announced.
