Stuart this is very appropriate for this thread since Fibre Channel is what drives SANs. Fibre Channel has potential to drive LANs, with multiple capabilities that no other technology has the ability to do. Infiniband is closely related and we are waiting to hear from Douglas on this thread, about the latest Infiniband news. He is at the I/O conference right now and said he would post some information. The FC switch market is just emerging. Ancor's revenue should go from almost nothing to skyhigh, as soon as it's OEMs like SUN, Hitachi, Thompson, start shipping switched SANs. Up to this point FC Hubs have been used. But do to the growing storage demands we are finally reaching the point where switches must be used, and this means that as volumes go up, prices will go down and switches will take off. I favor Ancor over Brocade. Ancor's technology is in an ASIC, and will achieve much better pricing on higher port configurations. If you are gonna sell high volumes, it is preferable to sell high volumes of director class switches. Brocade only has low end, 8 & 16 port switches. As the market develops I think the 128 port and higher will be in high demand. This will give Ancor the majority of the market and it will blow away Brocade.

Since you also invest in HLIT, this is one of my major holdings, in at around 7 post split. Here is my post- ramblings on how I think things will evolve.
