First Albany Analysis on Alternative Energy--interview with ERic Prody (sp)

radiowallstreet.com

(my summary of interview)

small electricty generation device that uses natural gas or propane. Unit the size of a dishwasher that sits in the basement or out side. The unit needs a gas line to the house. The gas passes through the fuel cell and hydrogen mixes with the airs oxygen. The technology has been around for 100 years. PLUG has been in business since 1998. They have had one house in testing in Albany, New York. PLUG engineers live in the home. They shipped 52 Alpha units for testing at the end of 1999. They hope to have beta units available in 2000.
Plug primary market is the home. Ballard primary market is the car.
PLUG is in the research and development stage. Their money comes from R&D contracts with the government. Other smaller companys are in this area of R&D. Good management according to the analyst. GE has a stake and will cobrand the product when ever it reaches production.
Earnings-None
Evaluating on making milestone. (i.e. shipping the 52 units in 1999 for testing. Alliance with GE)
This analyst said they will be loosing money until 2004
He feels the stock has had a significant run (this was when it was at 63/64) and moved past anyones price target.
He sees it as a big market, a radical new technology, and a very volatile stock.

FYI
