B2B Issue: VerticalNet, Inc. (VERT) owns and operates 34 industry-specific Web sites designed as online business-to-business communities, known as vertical trade communities. NEW YORK, Jan 20 (Reuters) - Microsoft Corp (NasdaqNM:MSFT - news) said on Thursday it will invest $100 million in VerticalNet Inc (NasdaqNM:VERT - news), which runs Web sites that let businesses buy and sell supplies, as part of a marketing and distribution deal. ----------------------------------------------------------- Looks like the Microsoft Monster has just noticed the B2B markets ... all bets are now off just how large this sector will now become!
