---------------------------------------------------
VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 7, 1999-- Worldwide
Fiber Inc. (WFI),
today announced the signing of letters of intent with Nortel Networks, Newbridge
Networks
, and Fore
Systems to supply the optical and switching systems that will activate the existing dark
fiber asset
stretching from Seattle to Vancouver to Toronto via Minneapolis, Chicago and Detroit.

This announcement represents an important step in the company's evolution from

facilitated by Worldwide Fiber's large dark fiber asset. An important aspect of
Worldwide Fiber's long-term strategy is to continue to develop its
fiber assets and increase the Network value. WFI has chosen to work with Nortel
Networks to deliver their latest DWDM Optical Platform, the
Optera LH system. The Optera LH system is capable of supporting 160 OC192

has also chosen Fore Systems to provide the ATM core switching Fabric. The AS400,
40 gbps switch will support high-speed connection at optical
speeds up to 10 gbps per link. The Fore Switching Platform will ultimately grow to a
switching capability of 240 gbps.

Newbridge Networks will supply the ATM edge switches. The
MainStreetXpress(TM) 36170 Multiservices Switch platform will enable WFI
to
provide a wide range of services including IP, voice, compressed voice, private
line, frame relay, Ethernet, LMDS and xDSL.

Worldwide Fiber appreciates the opportunity to work with Nortel Networks,
Newbridge Networks and Fore Systems. Their respective capabilities
will assist in the building of a services architecture which when deployed, will be at the
leading edge of service delivery, allowing WFI to provide
extremely competitive and flexible carrier services. Steve Baker, Vice President
Bandwidth Services and Chief Technology Officer stated,
