Both board and chip designs are "challenging" as the frequency goes up (not that they are a snap at frequencies below that). Board design is becoming an art as frequencies north of 600 MHz become common. The problems are not unsolvable but crosstalk becomes ever more threatening. Everything can be solved with time and money, meaning that boards for higher frequencies will cost more. More and more companies (including mine) do board crosstalk simulations to predict and hopefully eliminate "hot spots" of unwanted RF energy. The trick is to do enough to quiet the boards without gold plating them with overkill.
