Norton SystemWorks [OPTIMIZE UNMOVABLES - 01/19/2000]
"OPTIMIZE UNMOVABLES There are some files on your disk you shouldn't optimize, because the potential damage if there's a system malfunction during optimization makes moving them around not worth the risk. Norton Speed Disk makes it convenient to select Read Only, Hidden, and System files, which could cause system-level problems if moved during optimization. But you may have your own reasons for keeping other files immobile, too.
Select Norton Utilities from the Norton SystemWorks 2000 Integrator, then Improve Performance and the Speed Disk button. On the opening screen, click Properties, Options.
Select the letter of the drive you wish to configure and click Customize. Under the Unmovables tab, you can put checkmarks in the boxes next to Read Only, Hidden, and System to immobilize files with those attributes.
Then, in the File Specification field, type the full path and name of any other file you want to keep in place. To browse for files, click the folder icon to the right of the box.
Use a wild card, such as an asterisk followed by a file extension, to designate a type of file--for example, *.dat or *.ini--and click OK, Add. Alternatively, type the path to a folder and use *.* to specify all files in that folder. Click OK when you're done." |
