Being classified, by my teen age children, at least, as an old fart myself, I agree with you.

(Egad, were you around when we were chanting never to trust anyone over 30? By my beliefs then I've been untrustworthy nearly nearly half my life.)

Seems to me that if LU is lucky, Bell Labs will be the kicker in here -- they can develop new technologies in house rather than having to go the expensive acquisition route. Questions are, a) is Bell Labs still as high quality a research lab as it used to be, and b) can LU capitalize on their discoveries (in, e.g., the way Xerox didn't with PARC).
