Your message is misleading (no offense in this).
re:"That is not a positive, it is a negative."
For what ? Does this alliance will stop Sony shipping 1 or 2 millions PSII in 2 months ? Will it stop major OEM to build, promote and sell PCs with Rambus inside ? Will it stop Rambus development in communications to be announced this quarters ? Does it do RDRAM less competitive or efficient in any way for the 3 to 4 years to come ?
Does it change anything in your decision to buy Rambus ?
I bet none here on this thread, in the world, ever bought Rambus stock because he anticipated Rambus would do the hold-up of the century with its patents.

I don't mind to get any money on SDRAM made in 93, on pc100/133 or even DDR or DDR2.
None of us knew about this possibility 3 days ago and now you seem to say that Rambus will be successful only if the lawsuit is a success...

We all invest in Rambus because we are convinced that their technology will dominate the market in the next 4-5 years, after that, like I said in my previous message, who knows !!!

Alliance's members doesn't want to pay royalties ? No you're kidding... They just have to do it.

This lawsuit has a very positive consequence: The whole industry know Rambus right now, it is not anymore a small semi company located somewhere in California, it is a company with which you must count, because they have some interesting patents.
If Rambus initiated these meeting with major actors of this industry about patents infringements without securing these patents were bullet proof and loose their action then the stock will drop and it will prove that we were wrong to bet on the quality and professionalism of the Rambus management.
This would cost us some money, but every lesson learnt has a price.

I have a question for the people who know the semi market from a long time:
Has this market/industry ever been facing such a situation in which a pure IP company develop (for years) crucial technology for the future of this industry and licenses it to the actors of this industry ? Aren't pure IP companies a new phenomenon in the semi ?
If yes, how did the industry react ?
I don't like to use this reference but is the QCOM/CDMA experience/story of any help to answer this question ?
