John,
Climber, please give me a synopsis...I'm working!
Ok, quick synopsis: the business case for HDR is compelling. Cost per sub, rate of return, everything.
Seriously, if you want to understand why this is so you have to dig into it. Go and listen to what this world class management team is trying to tell us. They are not smoke-blowers.
The reason I pointed you to that link is that that 50 minute presentation is the best source you can find to begin to understand this technology and where Q is headed. People of Irwin Jacobs' stature, experience and reputation don't make these kinds of presentations for fun. Or to showcase vaporware.
Read George Gilder's take on the HDR demo. He's seen it, he knows how potentially disruptive it is.
Ignore 90 percent of what you read on this thread, but do go back and read everything you can find from Gregg Powers, engineer, Clark Hare, Molloy, Maurice Winn, Bux, Ruffian, Ramsey and others who used to post here but now post on Ramsey's thread. It's not an easy subject to tackle, and the market dynamics are complex, but these guys can help you understand it. The rest of us can appreciate their efforts and add what we can, or at least do our best to keep the signal-to-noise ratio high. That's why I hardly ever post <g>.
BTW, I appreciate your efforts to bring appropriate MCOM news to light. I think it's good to understand all possible competition and / or partners.
I'm interested in your take if you get a chance to hear the demo and read through the pdfs and trial results.
Best regards,
Climber |
