Who's the better DVD play Zoran or Cube?

Zoran might be a better pure DVD play if you want to avoid non DVD products.

Zoran is In Toshiba DVD players and a couple of other low ball players. While Cube is in Samsung, Zenith and a couple of the Chinese low ball players. They may be in a high end Toshiba player as well but I have not been able to confirm.

However it appears Cube far out shipped Zoran for DVD chips.

Cube is the Digital Video encoder chip supplier to GI, SFA and supplies DirectTV, Echostar/Dish network as well as Broadcasters in Europe, South America, Japan and China.

Cube also supplies Decoder chips for a number of settop boxes that are being deployed. For instance, Cube supplies Pace and they won a contract to supply 750k boxes to Time Warner.

Not to mention the DVR boxes only now coming to market and recordable recordable DVD, next year.

Cube is not a pure DVD play.

Zoran is closer to one, but as far as I can tell they have one major customer now and are making some headway with others.
There Sigma designs as well, but they are only show up in the add in kit market at the moment.

If you want to invest in a company focused only in DVD, that's not Cube. If you want to invest in a company focused in Digital video from end to end. That's Cube.

You might want to play both.
