panic_mob,

<WRT the interview with AMD CMO this afternoon,>

I haven't heard this. Do you have the link?

<he said AMD's margin WAS 30-35%. He expects margin 35-40% in Q1. Can somebody verify/confirm that? It makes sense to me considering drain of .25 wafers. Average cost of .18 Athlon should be much(?) lower than .25 Athlon.>

I don't know if it "much" lower but should definitely be lower. AMD's (and Intel's) margins will go up this quarter partly because of the inventory replenishment issue. (they will be replacing older, more expensive inventory with cheaper inventory and also the inventory levels will go up giving somewhat of a boost to earnings in Q1)

<When this week is over, AMD's fundamentals are as sound as ever.>

To be sure they are better because some of the risk factors now appear to be more modest (ex: Dresden)
